Custodian I

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Minnehaha County Facilities Department is currently accepting applications for a Custodian I to perform general cleaning for the care of county buildings and grounds. This is a full time evening shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.) Monday through Friday.

DUTIES:

Performs a variety of general routine cleanup work including sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors, wood paneling, and various surfaces by hand or machine; cleans windows, sills, blinds, woodwork, furniture, doors, walls and ceilings; and other routine custodial duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment and supplies. Ability to work independently. Ability to perform moderately strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to learn the operation of small mechanized equipment and hand and power tools common to routine custodial work. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Selected candidate will be subject to mandatory, pre-employment background check.

SALARY:

Starts at $ 10.75 per hour plus .40 evening shift differential. Minnehaha County offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental coverage for employees and dependents, retirement contributions, life insurance, and generous paid time off benefits.
